Legal Aid Criminal Contract Holders Meeting

As Consultants supporting Criminal Defence firms over very many years, we have felt and understood the pain of criminal defence practitioners as the rates of pay have decreased and the demands of work have increased. The fact that the Bar have achieved two successful increases in pay through direct action in the last 5 years is galling for the Solicitors’ profession, that has a very different contractual arrangement with the Legal Aid Agency. We understand the desire of Solicitors to be more effective in their negotiations with the MoJ.

We also know that there are historic lines drawn between practitioners in different areas of the country and of different sizes. But we cannot see how they are relevant to the issue of pay.

We have therefore organised a time and a place for Criminal Legal Aid Contract holders to meet and discuss these issues.

Our venue holds 80 people for this “in person” event. We will therefore be limiting guaranteed entry to one attendee from each of the first 80 contract holders to register. In the event we have fewer than 80 contract holders, we will be happy to accommodate additional attendees from your firm. We are investigating the live streaming options to provide an alternative means of attendance – so if you are not able to attend in person, please indicate if you would be able to attend remotely.
