Role and Background
Helen is a qualified solicitor with a diverse professional background spanning leadership roles in both the legal and tech/corporate sectors. Throughout her career, she has held key positions such as Compliance Officer of Legal Practices (COLP), Head of Legal Practices (HOLP), Money Laundering Compliance and Reporting Officer (MLCO/MLRO), and Data Protection Officer (DPO) for law firms and various regulated businesses and services.
She played a pivotal role in the startup and management of law firms that have risen to prominence in their specialised sectors. She was involved in the licensing of the first Alternative Business Structure (ABS) in England. Further in her commitment to innovation in the legal industry she worked with firms and the Land Registry to help automation and digitalised of registration processes. She has worked in helping firms with offshore processing in India, Sri Lanka, Poland etc.
Her experience extends to global organisations, where she has overseen the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and training programs. Navigating the complexities of global compliance landscapes, to ensure seamless operations and adherence to compliance requirements.
Helen’s specialised areas encompass anti-money laundering (AML), complaint and firm negligence handling, Data Protection Act (DPA) compliance, file review and auditing, law management, and operational effectiveness in law firms, particularly in conveyancing (CQS).
She provides training and comprehensive guidance to law firms, Trust or Company Service Providers (TCSPs), and PRA/FCA regulated entities, to ensure their compliance with AML and other regulatory requirements; fostering a culture of integrity and efficiency.
Throughout her career, Helen has been dedicated to driving operational effectiveness, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing strategic guidance to organisations in the legal and regulated sectors. She brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to excellence in every aspect of legal and compliance management.
