Role and Background
Lorraine Richardson M. A. (Cantab) is an experienced property solicitor who has practice and teaching experience. In addition to running a branch office and being a partner, Lorraine was the COLP for her firm.
Lorraine has developed around 100 conveyancing webinars for CLT and, at any one time, Lorraine has produced up to half of the residential property webinars which CLT have on sale. She has also written on-line CQS training courses for The Law Society. At the College of Law, Lorraine managed the very successful Higher Rights of Audience programme. She was responsible for dealing with all academic and assessment issues; arranging and chairing Assessment Board meetings and preparing minutes; commissioning new assessments; ensuring the integrity of assessment processes (both written and advocacy) and reviewing all assessment results. She has also been an external examiner for the STEP foundation course and also presented various courses for MBL training.
Lorraine assists firms with compliance checks in relation to conveyancing and wills & probate work. Firms must comply with a myriad of standards including the CQS Core Practice Management Standards, the Conveyancing Protocol, the Wills & Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS) and the SRA and CLC Codes of Conduct. Lorraine can help firms identify the gaps in their processes to help reduce the risk of non-compliance and the ever-present negligence threat.
Lorraine is a co-editor of the popular and practical Law Society publication ‘Conveyancing Forms and Procedures’ and is the major contributor to the monthly update journal for solicitors, the ‘Practical Lawyer.’
