Sarah has worked in the Legal Accounting field for over 24 years, having been a member of the ILFM throughout her career. Sarah qualified as a Fellow member of the ILFM in 2005, winning the ‘Wilfred Owen’ award for her dissertation on ‘Practice Management within a Law Firm’.
In 2007 Sarah wrote the accounting rules for the Association of Costs Draftsmen. Shortly afterwards Sarah became the ILFM Legal Practice and Procedures tutor, subsequently going on to become the ILFM Legal Practice Management examiner and tutor in 2011. Sarah also serves on the Institute’s Executive Committee, in which she was responsible for the introduction and subsequent publication of various guidance notes like the VAT guide to legal aid and more recently the billing guide 2010.
In addition to her ILFM experience, Sarah has a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting and is a member of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants and served as Chair of the ILFM from 2010-2012.
Before starting a family in 2009, Sarah was a member of the Territorial Army, having served overseas to include a number of Operational Tours: more recently serving in Iraq, where her knowledge and experience had been utilised by the Coalition Provisional Authority. Sarah dealt directly with local Ministers to assist and oversee the budgets for all local provinces within the Southern region of Iraq.In early 2012 Sarah was invited by LexisNexis to write several practice notes for their PSL compliance software.
More recently Sarah worked with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives to write their practice management and accounting training competencies. She is also a member of the SRA External Advisory Group on the role of the COFA.
