In this free 1 hour webinar, Elizabeth Mottershaw and Rosalind Burgin of Garden Court North Chambers will outline the ways to challenge decisions about accommodating the homeless.

This webinar will look at options under the Housing Act 1996, including when local authorities review a decision late, fail to review their decision, or refuse to review their decision. The seminar will also look at Home Office decisions under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 regarding asylum seekers, and at the practicalities of urgent JRs.

Elizabeth Mottershaw | Barrister | Garden Court North Chambers

Elizabeth’s practice includes homelessness and housing work and she is regularly instructed in possession, injunction and unlawful eviction cases. She frequently acts for clients with serious mental health problems and those with drug and alcohol problems. Prior to being called to the Bar Elizabeth worked at Amnesty International and as an independent human rights consultant. Elizabeth is ranked as a rising star in the 2021 and 2022 editions of the Legal 500 in social housing and immigration.

Rosalind Burgin | Pupil Barrister | Garden Court North Chambers

Before starting pupillage, Rosalind was a paralegal at Leigh Day solicitors. She worked on human rights actions against the Department of Work and Pensions, wrongful imprisonment claims for detention in immigration removal centres and large equal pay claims for supermarket employees.
