Christine Middleton | Costs Lawyer | CM Costing Ltd
Christine has always worked in the legal services industry, initially as a non-litigious fee earner before re-training as a Costs Draftsman in 1994. She had thorough training at a costing agency for more than a year, and qualified over the next several years as a Fellow of the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen (FALCD).
Christine worked for 2 years in-house with a firm of solicitors managing her own department, before setting up her own business in 1999 which continues to thrive today.
In 2007 the Legal Services Act granted rights of audience to FALCDs and a right to take instructions from lay clients as well as professional clients such as Solicitors – a positive move forward for the costing profession. As a consequence Costs Lawyers were “born”. Christine was one of the first Costs Lawyers appointed in 2007. Unlike costs draftsmen, Costs Lawyers are regulated by the CLSB.
