Unbundled Family Services

Unbundled Family Services

Increasingly, in light of the changes brought into effect by LASPO and the fact that legal aid is no longer available for many family law matters where there is no history of domestic violence and abuse,  firms are introducing some level of unbundled services as a more affordable alternative to the traditional retainer.

The Law Society has issued a practice note which aims to advise practitioners on best practice in relation to unbundling whilst pointing out the potential risks and how to minimise them.  In particular, there may be some PI risks involved so firms need to ensure that their PI insurance covers this type of work before accepting it.
